Alert Types

Different types of alerts for different monitoring needs.

Flamel supports several alert types to cover different monitoring needs. Each type watches for different kinds of changes and triggers notifications accordingly.

Performance Change Alerts

Performance change alerts trigger when a metric changes significantly from its baseline. These are the most common alerts for monitoring campaign health.

How They Work

You define:

  • Which metric to monitor (CPC, CTR, conversions, spend, etc.)
  • The threshold that triggers notification (increase by X%, decrease by Y amount, etc.)
  • Whether to compare to yesterday, last week, or another baseline

Common Use Cases

  • CPC increases by 20% — Catches cost spikes before they drain budget
  • Conversion rate drops by 50% — Possible funnel problems
  • CTR decreases by 30% — Creative fatigue or audience issues
  • Spend exceeds daily average by 50% — Unexplained budget consumption

Example Configuration

"High CPC Alert"

  • Metric: Cost Per Click
  • Threshold: Increase by 25%
  • Comparison: vs. 7-day average
  • Notification: Immediate email

This alerts you when CPC rises significantly above its recent normal, letting you investigate before wasted spend accumulates.

Milestone Alerts

Milestone alerts trigger when cumulative metrics reach specific values. They're useful for tracking progress toward goals and celebrating achievements.

How They Work

You define:

  • Which cumulative metric to track
  • The target value to reach
  • Whether to alert once or repeatedly (at intervals)

Common Use Cases

  • 10,000 impressions reached — Confirm campaign is getting traction
  • 100 leads generated — Celebrate hitting lead goals
  • $1,000 spent — Budget checkpoint
  • 500 conversions — Major milestone tracking

Example Configuration

"Lead Goal Alert"

  • Metric: Total leads
  • Threshold: 100 leads
  • Trigger: Once per campaign
  • Notification: Email and in-app

This notifies you when a campaign hits its lead target, helping you decide whether to continue, scale, or pause.

Creation Alerts

Creation alerts notify you when new campaigns, ad sets, or ads are created. They provide visibility into advertising activity across your network.

How They Work

You define:

  • What type of creation to monitor (campaigns, ad sets, ads)
  • Which accounts or workspaces to watch
  • Who should be notified

Common Use Cases

  • New campaign created — Hub visibility into franchisee launches
  • New ad created — Review new creative for compliance
  • New ad set added — Track targeting changes

Hub Use Case

For franchise organizations, creation alerts let Hub users know when workspaces launch new campaigns. This enables:

  • Brand compliance review
  • Offering guidance or support
  • Understanding network activity
  • Catching potential issues early

Example Configuration

"New Campaign Alert"

  • Trigger: Any campaign created
  • Scope: All workspaces
  • Notification: Daily digest email

This gives Hub users a daily summary of new campaign activity across the network without overwhelming notification volume.

Change Alerts

Change alerts trigger when campaign settings are modified. They create an audit trail and catch unexpected changes.

How They Work

You define:

  • What types of changes to monitor (budget, targeting, creative, status)
  • Which campaigns or accounts to watch
  • Who should be notified

Common Use Cases

  • Budget changed — Catches unauthorized or accidental budget modifications
  • Status changed — Campaigns paused or activated unexpectedly
  • Targeting modified — Audience changes that might affect performance
  • Creative updated — New ads or copy added without review

Team Coordination

Change alerts help when multiple people manage campaigns:

  • Know when colleagues make changes
  • Maintain awareness of campaign state
  • Catch accidental modifications
  • Create accountability

Example Configuration

"Budget Change Alert"

  • Trigger: Daily budget changed by more than 20%
  • Scope: All active campaigns
  • Notification: Immediate email

This alerts you to significant budget changes, whether intentional or accidental, letting you verify they're appropriate.

Combining Alert Types

The most comprehensive monitoring uses multiple alert types together:

  • Performance change — Catches degrading performance
  • Milestone — Tracks progress toward goals
  • Creation — Visibility into new activity
  • Change — Audit trail for modifications

Example Alert Setup

For a franchise advertising program:

  1. Performance: Alert when any workspace's CPC increases 25%
  2. Milestone: Alert when network reaches 10,000 total leads
  3. Creation: Daily digest of new campaigns created
  4. Change: Alert when any budget exceeds $100/day

This combination provides comprehensive oversight without overwhelming notification volume.

Choosing the Right Alert Type

  • Catch performance problems → Performance Change alerts
  • Track goal progress → Milestone alerts
  • Monitor network activity → Creation alerts
  • Audit campaign changes → Change alerts

Most users start with performance change alerts (the most immediately actionable) and add other types as their monitoring needs become clearer.
